Our earliest record of this Championship can be found in our early Board papers from a Meeting of the General Committee held in the Clubhouse, Saturday, 7 November 1936 at 5pm which reads:
"Club's Foursomes Championship. On the motion of Mr. Bowan seconded by Mr. Staveley it was decided to hold this Championship for Members and Associates over 36 holes on two of the Xmas Holidays and to present four cups valued at a Guinea each to the winners. A sum of Five Pounds was also passed for the purchase of minor trophies for the event held during the Xmas and New Year Holidays".
Unfortunately, for this competition, our honour boards start at 1950. The Foursomes Championship Trophy started in 1984.
Rules: Foursomes are to be played on a Saturday over 27-holes. Each group will be made up of three groups of two players. Each tee shot is to be played by the alternate player. Each shot is to be played by the alternate player. The major trophy is the best scratch score over the 27 holes. The Foursomes Championships are to be played from the plates.
The major trophy must be won by full playing members of Palm Beach Golf Club.
