Our History
Since its founding in 1924, Palm Beach Golf Club has been a staple of Palm Beach for locals and visitors alike.
Situated near the tip of the Barrenjoey Peninsula about 40 kilometres north of the city of Sydney, our club resides within the heart of Palm Beach.
Today the club currently consists of 500 members.
Many golf clubs in Australia and for that matter many overseas, have links built on spectacular sites, but Palm Beach can justly claim that its course enjoys one of the most beautiful setting of any course in the world. The western boundary is a beach running beside Pittwater, where windsurfers compete with seaplanes landing on its comparatively sheltered waters. The sand dunes of Governor Phillip Park beside the Pacific Ocean lie to the east. To the north an historic lighthouse looks down from Barrenjoey Headland. After a game of golf, members and visitors can enjoy a glass or two and a superb meal, while they sit out on the first-floor balcony of the club house across Beach Road to the south. With glass in hand, looking out towards Pittwater over the palms, pines, paperbarks and other trees that dot the course, most members agree that life doesn’t get much better than this.
This par 64, 4240-metre course has given many good golfers a basic lesson in course management, a fact that is further attested to with its revised layout record of 59. Like most courses, Palm Beach has its’ ‘Signature Hole’. At its south-east corner the Number 2, Par 3 can tell some terrible tales.
