Date: 1955
History:
At a meeting of the then Associates, held in the Associates Room on 5 March 1955 at 8.45pm, the Match Committee reported that "a suggestion for next season regarding gold medals is, as we play 12 matches a year in comparison with 8 at other clubs, we play for one gold medal a year, and eliminate the three medal a year winners". Previously, if a player won three medals a year they were entitled to a gold medal.
The ladies play for both a mid-week and weekend gold medals.
Rules:
Both the Mid-Week Gold Medal and the Weekend Gold Medal are traditionally played for over two 18-hole rounds in November each year. All players who have won a medal in the preceeding 12 months are eligible. Both Gold Medal rounds are played off the handicap the player started the 1st round with. The winner is the one with the lowest combined net score over the two rounds. The winner receives a Gold Medal. All Gold Medal Rounds are to be played from the plates.
